I think every artist knows what Tuymans is talking about in this quote; that feeling of unease when you have an idea for a piece and are desperate to see it take shape and nervous as to wether it will look anything like the image in your head. Also the pleasure, the pleasure of seeing your idea become a part of reality, and the greater understanding of reality that this gives you.


“When I start to paint, it is real agony. I get nervous. The day before, I am already working up to it. Then I get to the studio and, once the image starts to emerge and come together, pleasure kicks in. And then you can see things that no other person can see.”

Creo que cualquier artista sabe de lo que habla Tuymans en esta cita; esa sensación de inquietud cuando tienes una idea para una pieza y estás desesperado por ver como cobra forma y nervioso por si se parecerá a la idea que tienes en la cabeza.
